Mrs. Browning Fifth Grade Bennie Elementary- Allen Park 

**Reading- We will be continuing looking at Hatchet since we had to pause due to over half the class being at home. We will also be preparing for MSTEP, which will happen the following week.

**Math- We will be finishing up Chapter 8, starting Chapter 9, and practicing for MSTEP.

**S.S.- We are continuing the concepts behind the formation of the 13 colonies with our Colonies Notebook. My goal is to focus on this for only a couple more weeks and move onto the Revolutionary War.

**Science- We will be answering the question “How Have Glaciers Changed The Earth’s Surface?”

**Reading- We will be continuing looking at Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. Our figurative language unit is also still going strong with personification.

**Math- We have begun looking at our Algebra unit (Chapter 5).

**S.S.- We are continuing the concepts behind the formation of the 13 colonies with our Colonies Notebook.

**Science- We will be answering the question “How Does The Earth’s Water Change Form?”

Curriculum for the Week:

**Reading- We will be starting our first novel study this week- Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. In addition, we will also be starting our figurative language unit. Both of these units will last a few weeks. We will be using various vocabulary and comprehension strategies throughout the story.

**Math- We are still looking at multiplying and dividing fractions.

**S.S.- We are continuing the concepts behind the formation of the 13 colonies.

**Science- We will be answering the question “How Do Fossils Help Us Learn About The Past?”

Tuesday- NO IN PERSON schooling- asynchronous school day

Wed- Virtual Half Day
